Individual Therapy

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not quite yourself?

These are some of the most common reasons people reach out for support.

We are all unique, and no two experiences are ever the same. You may be carrying a constant sense of anxiety, sadness, or a worry you just can’t seem to shift. Perhaps your mind doesn’t switch off, you’re second-guessing yourself, or things that once felt manageable are starting to feel heavy.

It could be stress from work, tension within relationships, low self-esteem, grief, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right. Sometimes there isn’t one clear reason, just a feeling that life feels harder than than it should.

Why talk to a counsellor?

Counselling offers a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out. You can arrive exactly as you are, whether your thoughts feel tangled, your emotions feel close to the surface, or you’re not even sure where to begin.

My role as your therapist is to provide a compassionate, safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you feel heard and understood.  Together, we can gently make sense of what’s going on at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Anxiety is something I see affecting more and more people from all walks of life, including those who appear to have everything together on the outside. Yet internally, they feel overwhelmed, unable to switch off, struggling to sleep, feeling constantly on edge, nauseous, exhausted, or unable to concentrate. Some people begin avoiding other people, places, or situations they once enjoyed. Completely changing how they interact with the world, leading to distress and isolation.

These experiences are real, and they can feel debilitating. Talking therapy can help you better understand what’s happening and support you in finding ways to manage it.

Many clients arrive feeling unsure about whether their problem is “serious enough” for counselling. I often hear:

I feel silly, really… I don’t even know why I’m here?

If something is worrying you, affecting your relationships, your wellbeing, or getting in the way of living the life you want, then it is "serious enough".

You do not have to wait until things feel unbearable before reaching out for support.

Next Step – Be proud of yourself for getting to this point.

One of the hardest parts about seeking support is often taking the first step. Many people spend months, sometimes years, trying to cope alone before reaching out.

You may have become so used to carrying things quietly that you hardly notice how much emotional energy it is taking to get through the day.  Often, people tell themselves they should be able to “handle it,” or worry that asking for help means they have failed in some way. In reality, reaching out requires strength; it’s a sign of self-awareness and courage.

As your therapist, I am not here to judge, to tell you what to do, or analyse every part of your life.  I am here to simply listen; being truly listened to can bring a sense of relief.  Over time, counselling can help you build greater self-understanding, healthier coping strategies, stronger boundaries, and a clearer sense of who you are and what you need.
